Lithuanian is a Baltic language, closely related to Latvian, which are partially mutually intelligible. An odd fact: Among Indo-European languages, Lithuanian is extraordinary in that it retains many archaic features otherwise found only in ancient languages such as Sanskrit or Ancient Greek. Lithuania is one of the three Baltic states, it is situated along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea, to the east of Sweden and Denmark.
